Why it matters
Be straightforward about this one. US web accessibility lawsuits have run in the thousands annually for several years, and most target the same handful of failures: missing alt text, unlabelled form inputs, insufficient contrast, and keyboard traps. Those are exactly what automated testing catches well. What it doesn't catch is most of the rest, whether alt text is meaningful, whether a screen reader flow makes sense, whether a custom component behaves correctly for keyboard users. Automated tooling reliably identifies around 30–40% of issues. Anyone selling you a one-click compliance guarantee, an overlay widget included, is selling something that doesn't exist. This audit gives you the measurable portion, mapped to specific criteria, so you know what's real and what still needs a person.

Does passing mean I'm ADA compliant?
No. Automated tests catch 30–40% of issues. Compliance requires manual testing and, usually, an audit by a specialist. Anyone claiming otherwise is overselling.
What's WCAG 2.2 AA?
The current W3C accessibility standard at the level most regulations reference, including Section 508 and the EU Accessibility Act.
Do accessibility overlay widgets fix this?
No, and there's a substantial body of practitioner and legal opinion that they can make things worse. Fix the underlying markup.
Why does 2.5.8 target size appear?
It's new in WCAG 2.2 (published October 2023), requiring a 24×24px minimum for interactive targets.
Is my site legally required to be accessible?
Depends on your sector and jurisdiction. Public bodies and many commercial sites in the US are covered. We're not lawyers, ask one.
What can't this test detect?
Whether alt text is meaningful, logical reading order for screen readers, video captions, custom widget keyboard behaviour, and cognitive accessibility. All need humans.
