The short answer

This free UX audit scores any page on 19 usability factors: tap target size and spacing, font size and line height, colour contrast, navigation depth, layout shift, viewport configuration, form labelling and focus visibility. Each check maps to a measurable threshold, so the result is evidence rather than opinion.

Context

Why it matters

UX arguments usually stall because everyone has an opinion and nobody has a number. This audit only measures things with defensible thresholds (44px tap targets, 16px body text, 4.5:1 contrast, CLS under 0.1) so the conversation stops being about taste. That's deliberately a narrow slice of UX. It won't tell you whether your information architecture makes sense to a first-time visitor, or whether your onboarding flow matches how people actually think. Those need research. What it will do is clear the measurable problems off the table so your research budget goes to the questions that actually need humans.

Methodology

Methodology

01

Paste any public URL

We fetch the page the way a browser and crawler would, no login walls, no probing.

02

Collect signals once

HTML, headers, robots/sitemap, and optional Lighthouse lab data feed every tool from one pass.

03

Score with published weights

Each check has a fixed weight that sums to 100. N/A checks leave the denominator so empty pages aren’t unfairly punished.

FAQs

Free Website UX Audit FAQs

Does this replace user testing?

No. It catches measurable problems. It can't tell you whether your product makes sense to a new user, only people can.

Why 44 pixels for tap targets?

It's Apple's HIG minimum and roughly the width of an adult fingertip. WCAG 2.2 sets a separate 24px floor; we check both.

What's the difference between this and the Accessibility Audit?

Overlap exists on contrast and labels. Accessibility maps to WCAG 2.2 AA criteria specifically; UX weights general usability more broadly.

Does it check my whole user journey?

No, one page per run. Journey analysis needs research, not a scanner.

My score is low but users don't complain.

Users rarely complain, they leave. That said, a low score is a hypothesis list, not a verdict, check it against your analytics.

Does it test on a real mobile device?

It uses Google's mobile emulation via Lighthouse, which is the same environment Google uses for mobile indexing.

Built for founders who are done waiting on agencies.

One team. One contract. Working software every two weeks.
